I think my Zelnorm is not working as well as it used to. I have read some posts where others have experiences the same thing. Has anyone tried stopping it for a while and then starting back up again to see if it would start working again?

Yes, that usually will work for me. I take miralax on a regular basis but have Zelnorm on hand for just when I need it kinda thing. Give your body a break from it for a couple of weeks and than you could try it again. This happens to a lot of people thats why I prefer the miralax, you don't build up a tolerance to it and its been around a lot longer and no one has ever died from miralax!

Michele,
When you get off of the Zelnorm do you find that things get worse and then get better again when you get back on?

Yes. The C was intolerable which is what promted me to try the Zelnorm again. Now, it seems to stop working after just a few days though.

The Zelnorm works much better for me if I only use it on an "as needed," i.e. occasional, basis. I, too, take Miralax every day.

So do you guys take it only when you have a flare-up of pain or constipation? Or both? And then do you stop taking it when things calm back down?

I take miralax daily. If I have a bad bout of C and a second dose of miralax doesn't clear it up, I'll take a zelnorm. If I get into a bad pain bout, than I'll usually take them for a week or so than stop. Its not a cure-all by any means but it seems to help a little when I do it this way!
