I've been belching (and "tooting") ALL DAY!! It's so weird for me. I mean, I burp a few times a day, but literally 50 times + today. What is up with that? Grody to the max!

When I first started taking the Digestive Advantage-IBS, I had gas pains, cramping & some gas really bad for about 3 days. Then it suddenly got ALOT better. I feel so much better now taking it. I'm assuming of course, that Digestive Advantage is considered a probiotic. (It has the lactobacillus enzymes, and cellulose & something else I think.)

I would hang in there and see if they go away in a day or two. Sometimes it could just be a sign that you have a lot of "stuff" in there for them to take care of... If it keeps up for much longer than that and makes you very uncomfortable -- then maybe it isn't the right match for you. I think some people do say that their gas gets a little worse for a couple days - but then gets progressively better until it's just about gone if not totally. I didn't notice mine getting any worse -- or any burping. Actually I take that back -- after I had to go on antibiotics I had some burping & gas for a day or two -- so maybe that's what you're feeling. It went away though. I knew the antibiotic was going to wipe out all that good bacteria and make me start nearly over -- even though I kept taking it while I was on it.

It might be the type of probiotic. Some, like Natrol Biobeads, do not dissolve until they reach the intestines, where they are really needed. This is because of the coating on the acidophilus, etc. that's in them. They also need no refrigeration. Try a different one, and make sure it needs no refrigeration. More stable.....
Hope this helps...

another with the same properties as those Barbara just suggested is Dr William's 'Probiotic Advantage.' i order it online.
snippet from product description:
"Dr. Williams discovered an advanced encapsulation process, in Japan, that delivers these four strains of powerful bacteria right where they're needed. Each "beadlet" of Probiotic Advantage contains one billion beneficial bacteria that go to work in your intestines and colon to:"

cost me $25 for a bottle of 60, has to be refrigerated, has 5 strains: Lacto Acidop.(l.Rhamnosus) Bifidobact.brev. lacto.acidoph. Enteroccus Faecium. Any thoughts?
The health food store lady said it was the best one, most results, for the least price. I didn't want to lay down a fortune on a pill I didn't know would work.
Thanks for all your posts-I'll stick with it till the end of the bottle.

I do the same thing but after a week or so I'm wayyyyyy better with gas. I use a clinicly proven brand called Culturelle. My friend with IBS had tried so many brands and he swore with this one, not only less gas but no foul smell. You can order it through your pharmacie. I get mine through either price rite drug or Albertsons. It doesn't need to be refridgerated but they recommend it not to be stored above I think 70. Good luck and hang in there.

Are you referring to the SWISS HERBAL brand? The actual label my Mum has/uses reads "SWISS natural sources." "Each capsule contains: lactose, whey powder, bacterial culture, magnesium stearate, ascorbic acid, gelatin/lactose." Perhaps the LACTOSE and WHEY POWDER may be a significant factor in the "burpiness," etc.

but it does have 6 billion cells,(that's a LOT!) so I may not need to take it 4 times a day. I thought it'd just get it going faster.
I read on the internet somewhere that the first few days, gas is expected. Honestly, I don't get this much gas from milk, straight up! So...anyhow, it's expected to go away big time in the next 24 hours or so.Hope so, I'm glued to my Magic Bag right now!!!(i'd actually give anything to burp or fart today. There's none!! now it's all stcuk inside.)
Oy vey! The love and attention I'm giving these guts!

I have also read the studies on this probiotic and it has proven very reliable. It is used in hospitals now to treat diarrhea in children. It has a fantastic reputation among the medical field, which tends to not embrace any sort of "alternative treatment" outside prescriptions.
However, I was under the impression that this brand was only useful for diarrhea and not constipation. From you earlier posts I presumed you were a C??? Do you find this Culturelle helps you without increasing the C? I would think that if it is used to treat D, it might cause us C folks to be more C. I know it only has one strain of acidpholous or probiotic or whatever you call a strain of live cultures and I think muliple strains are recommended for IBS over probiotics only containing one. I read in the research library theat L. Plantarium is good for pain of IBS and that L Rhueti is good for C or was it L. Rhamonous? Anyhow, if you could get a multi-strain with these specific types in them, wouldn't it help us more??
Please tell me what you think about Culturelle for constipation. I have some from when I was D, but now I'm afriad to take them since I am C. They probably aren't good anymore anyhow!
Is your friend that's taking them a C or a D?
PS. I got mine at CVC or Walgreens.

and there are specific sites I found(I don't know where now,) that indicate it for IBS and tell you how to take them. By the way, I feel SO much better today. I had 3 BMs and the pebbles are Gone!
Then again, that could mean my gut wants to "bat for the other team" for a while!!! I guess I'll stock up on the toilet paper, LOL!
