ISOT (I Searched On This), but didn't really find what I was looking for. My 10-year-old son has not been sleeping well since he started with IBS 2 months ago. He wakes up with pain, then lies awake for long periods of time. During the day he's often dragging himself around because he's so tired. We've tried chamomile, catnip, valerian, passionflower, melatonin, Benadryl, Percocet, and just finished a 5-night trial of Trazadone. Nothing seems to make much difference. His pediatrician just prescribed Remeron, which we will start tomorrow night.
I'm very uneasy with giving him antidepressants which have not been proven safe in children. Messing with the brain and neurotransmitters in a child seems risky. I've read some bad things on this site about people's experiences with Remeron.
Zane will have his first session of hypnosis tomorrow; maybe that will help.
Any thoughts or advice? Thanks!

Hmmm. I've found a combination of valerian and hops very helpful - and I take as much of it as I can! Magnesium malate also helps me, but I'm not sure if that's just cos I have Fibro.
How much exercise is he doing? And does he drink plenty of water?
Could he have a hot bath when he wakes up in the night? A hot bath with relaxing essential oils is great for insomnia and IBS attacks!
