I tend to be IBS-D and sometimes A but even on days when I am regular and go normal for me, I still can have bad gas. Sometimes I can feel it building up inside. What causes this and what stuff has been helpful in keeping it to a minimum? Thanks, Sandy

Personally, I find that fennel tea helps me. I just had bad gas the other day (I can't even remember why I did now), and mixed up a cup of fennel/rooibos tea. Worked pretty good! If I'm going to eat something that makes me gassy like beans or veggies, I like to take Beano.
You know, this is really stupid, but I just have to say, now it's driving me nuts that I can't remember why I had that gas the other day, because I remember at the time thinking I knew why, but now I can't remember. I hate when that happens! Oh brother.

I just read this on the internet....
Activated charcoal tablets (Charcocaps) may provide relief from gas in the colon. Studies have shown that when these tablets are taken before and after a meal, intestinal gas is greatly reduced. The usual dose is 2 to 4 tablets taken just before eating and 1 hour after meals.
Has anyone tried these Charcoal things? Sometimes a simple Gas-X will help me, but sometimes, it doesn't phase it. I can't do the fennel tea.
Just wondering.....Thanks.

I have never tried the charcocaps but I heard somewhere that they can interfer with the absorption/effectiveness of medicines so they should be taken at a certain tome before or after meds. I don't know exactly which but I am sure if you ask a pharmacist or maybe even someone here on the boards can lead you in the right direction.

Long term...
Acacia Following the diet Drinking enough water Getting exercise
Short-term...
Fennel tea Yoga
If I feel it starting I get the fennel tea down me asap and keep drinking it almost continually for a few hours. Works for me!
