Just curious - how many women on the board started experiencing IBS symptoms at the same time you started noticing Perimenopausal changes?

I have always had "gas" type issues - but nothing like what I am experiencing now. This hormones played a significant role in enhancing my IBS problem. Anne

Well I'm not perimenopausal but I would stress strongly that I believe IBS is very linked to hormones. I know that my IBS problems follow my cycle very closely and I always have D on the first day of my period. So I'm not exactly sure what the connection might be to perimenopause, but probably any time your hormones are fluctuating lots or in different ways than usual would send your IBS wonky - or maybe, as in your case, cause it to start. At any rate, I definitely think there is a hormonal connection. Hope that helps some.

Thank you so much for your input. I notice mine always hit at that time and I never know if I'm going to spasm or have an acute attack. When I have those acute "C" attacks, it completely imobilizes me for several hours. I literally can't walk for several hours. Today I had the "D" going.

I'm not premenopausal either but yep, I get a massive gastro type D attack 3 days before my period, before that I'm slightly C. The D lasts till the end of my period then usually eases up till I ovulate. It's just great being a girl
