Can you all list your personal triggers??

I'd love to compare and even learn from your list.
I also ask because I am still convinced dairy and meat are NOT a trigger for me, or if they are it is mild. Anyone else not have those 2 as triggers?
Now keep in mind I've only had IBS for nearly 2yrs and only known what the heck it was for half that.
But my triggers seem to be: Adrenaline mostly from anexiety Coffee (I can kinda tolerate caffeine in tea and choclate) Carbonated drinks especially on empty tummy Anything spicy Too much fat...like fast food or Restraunt food Atrificial sweetners Eating too much/too fast/talking while eating Eating too little! Ugh And then the odd occurance of THINKING about IBS and/or thinking I'm getting an attack! Argh!
Thats my triggers I know of so far. I have ofcource mild triggers and then those tense or hormonal days when everything seems to be a trigger most of all my dang brain! (sorry for my lazy spelling, I type too fast)

I THINK my triggers are
milk, ice cream, cheese, greasy/ fatty food, coffee, pasta, hamburger or anything that wasn't cooked in my own house unless it is packaged. I eat but I always regret eating.

This is gonna get repetitive tho! Remeber that even tho you might have a higher tolerance to some triggers than other IBS-ers, it is still very important to cut them out until you're stable or you may never get there!
Mine are... - IF. - dairy (although I can now tolerate occasional foods with casein or whey in them). - overeating. - going too long without food. - anything cold (it's take me AGES to eat a teeny portion of soy "ice cream" as I take mini mouthfuls that can melt completely before they leave my mouth!). - artificial sweeteners. - carbonated drinks (although I can now have an occasional beer, I prefer to let even that go flat! ) - MSG (although I can now tolerate occasional foods with it in). - coffee and caffeine (tho caffeine alot less). - REALLY high-fat or greasy foods...I have a much higher tolerance to fat than most IBSers (but kept to very low-fat while I was stabilising).
I don't eat meat and would never had considered eating artificial fats so those aren't on my list. Anything I've missed?

Like Linz said, though - although personal tolerances vary, it's VERY important when you're trying to get stable to cut out ALL the trigger foods, including ones that don't seem to bother you... there'll be plenty of time to try reintroducing those things once you're stable.
Here goes:
Dairy Anything even remotely high in fat, oily, greasy Caffeine, esp. coffee Restaurant food, most likely because of item #2 Artificial sweeteners Peanut butter Red meat/dark meat poultry, if I eat too much of it
Stress Not getting enough sleep Other physical illness (colds, flu, etc) Overeating, esp. in the morning Not snacking enough during the day Not enough exercise Too much exercise
My stability is a lot more dependent on my routine than my food choices. But I'm still careful to not eat *much* of an IBS trigger food - now and then as a treat, NOT every day, and in small amounts, well cushioned with SF.

I'm still sick a lot but I know for sure that Alcohol-2 sips will have my belly churning and multiple loo trips. Fat-a big greasy pizza or mc donalds also have me off to the loo for a long time. Stress-boy oh boy, this is the worst thing for me. I suffer a lot of it and it always makes me ill. Anxiety-goes hand in hand with stress. Red meat-I can have some but if I ate a meat pie at lunch and a roast lamb for dinner then I get twisting pains. Chocolate-again, like alcohol, 2 pieces and I'm in major pain. I seem to do okay with cocoa though. It doesn't seem to matter how much coffee I drink or whether or not I have dairy, I don't feel any better off them but I think I may have a problem with lactose. Likewise with cold food. Not a problem for me. Hope this helps (or interests you )

Fat and grease! red meat chocolate dairy, especially fatty dairy, but occassionally I have some low fat dairy in things (small amount) going too long without eating eating too much at one time certain IFs are a big problem- eating nuts alone, melons, too many berries heat and humidity especially if gardening- I churn a lot when gardening
-------------------- IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!

Hmmm, let's see:
dairy too little IF compared with SF (I get D) too much IF compared with SF (I get C) carbonated beverages spicy food (maybe this just gives me indigestion) coffee and caffeine artificial sweeteners stress (Horse shows bring on the D!! And there are often only port-a-johns, and not very many of them! )
I don't know about really greasy, high fat food - I haven't eaten much of it in years; likewise red meat.
Thanks for starting this thread...I'm getting ideas from other people's lists...Definitely some things I hadn't thought about that may be triggers.

I've only been diagnosed for about 2 months. My triggers used to bother me only every great once in awhile. Now, they are bound to be triggers about 95% of the time if I eat them. Here goes:
Beef, no matter how lean (But venison (deer) doesn't bother me at all)
Cheese
Mandarin oranges
Milk
Ice Cream
Cheese
Fatty pork (bacon included)
Chicken w/ skin
Mandarin oranges
Tomato sauce
Kidney beans
Mayonaise
Insoluble Fiber
Green tea
Anxiety (usually because I'm anxious about having an attack)
Oh, yes, and Aunt Flo. This is also the only time any amount of chocolate bothers me. Not being able to eat chocolate on my period...grr...makes a Snorkie even grumpier!
Beef used to bother me only once in awhile. That started changing last fall. Milk or ice cream on an empty stomach has been bad news for about as long as I can remember. Same with orange juice or coffee on an empty stomach, but they used to be okay if I had something else in my stomach. Haven't had orange juice, coffee or a carbonated beverage since January, so I'm not positive they are triggers but I've not felt stable enough to experiment.
