Wanted to paste this excerpt from the link I posted above.

GASTROINTESTINAL PROPERTIES

Perhaps the main area to benefit from Mate is the gastrointestinal tract. Reported effects range from immediate improvement in digestion to the ability to repair damaged and diseased gastrointestinal tissues. Constipation, acute or chronic, can easily be overcome through the use of Mate. Mate appears to work mainly by softening the fecal mass, but it also appears to stimulate normal movement of the intestines to some degree.

Sounds like a miracle worker Did you find it in tea bags or just loose tea?

It's very mild. I like it a lot. There is a couple of different ways that this can be brewed (you can even do it in the coffee pot!) but I've yet to do anything beyond steeping like normal tea.

I haven't noticed any relief from bloating but I'm sick of fennel and peppermint and don't like ginger teas. It's a nice alternative.

I love the stuff! It has a great earthy flavor. I'm going back and forth between that and Red Tea (vanilla honey flavor). Have you tried it?

I tried the Yerba Mate in the tea bags with a little honey. I really liked it and NO jitters or upset tummy!! The tea bags also come in Mint w/Yerba Mate but have not tried that yet. Anyway I can brew Heather's and then drop in a Yerba Mate tea bag. I'll try that tonight.

I have not heard of the red tea... do you have a website on that one?

Do you use the teabags or loose? Do you use one of those cool spoon/straws I've seen?

Off to the J.O.B....... but I'll check back DUH! LOL

The name of my red tea is Kalahari Highlands Honey. Really tasty!

I just use tea bags. Haven't found the straw thingy for the Yerba Mate. I do have a copper tea kettle that I use for my loose tea leaves. It works pretty cool.

I just started this program, and I have to confess, I hate fennel tea. But the one day that I did drink it, I did not see any improvement in the bloating. Is there a better tasting tea and one that will reduce the stomach bloat?

I don't like the taste of fennel either, so I mix it with peppermint, and that helps me with pain & bloating. Try Tummy Mint by Celestial Seasoings (contains peppermint, fennel, and chamomile) or ordering from Heather the peppermint & fennel to make your own blend.

Hi This is my first post to these message boards. I have been drinking Yerba Mate for a few years now, and I really like it. I have been applying the IBS diet only from stuff I have read on the website. I haven't ordered the book yet. I have been really having some bad C attacks the past two weeks, and I have been just guzzling Pepermint tea, and eating nothing but soluble fiber. I had some relief from bloating, but still nothing was moving. I have been afraid to drink the Yerba Mate, but I noticed some posts about it, and remembered I had one tea-bag left. After searching the site today, I decided to brave it, and it helped! Praise God! I feel so much better!
Guyaki is actually how I heard about the stuff, and that's the kind I have been drinking. The flavors are yummy, but they are expensive. I usually just buy the plain version, and, like someone else posted, I will add another flavor of tea with it. I like Celestial Seasonings Bengal Spice, (I don't think that it has any IBS no-no's in it.) It tastes great. It's also really good with honey or stevia, and vanilla soy milk.
