I tried this for about a week. Gave me serious D within hours of taking it, along with loud tummy rumbles. I liked how quickly it worked, but I was stuck in the potty (or needed to have quick access to one) for at least three hours. I work full-time and couldn't miss any more work.

Oh, and you may have better luck if this was posted in the Eating for IBS board.

I have also found that www.ibsgroup.org is a great resource for info.

I tried it for 12 weeks (not allowed to be on it longer than that according to drug company). It helped with bloating and the sharp pains in my side. However, I had to really be careful with my diet while on it which alleviated the constipation very little .. so for me, it wasn't a miracle drug. Now, that I'm off it I'm back to the way I was before.. so it was just a temporary solution, if that.

Best of luck

i took zelnorm for about 6 weeks and i don't think it helped me much at all. (i couldn't really tell!!) the first day i took 1 6mg pill but the side effects came on so stong, i.e. dizziness, headache, that my GI doc immediately put me on 1/2 pill or 3mg doses at a time. anywho, ended up taking zelnorm for so long because i was told it may take up to a month for it to work. now that i'm zelnorm-free, i really don't see that much of a difference in my bowels or how i feel. but please don't let my experience frighten or discourage you. this drug does help some people and you may be one of them. my advice is to try it and def. check out www.ibsgroup.org --they have an entire forum dedicated to zelnorm! heck, i don't even like pills and i gave it a shot!
