I tried doing a search for this, but there are just so many travel posts...
I'm going to be traveling by plane, car, and boat for the next 1 1/2 weeks and want to take some safe comfort foods with me. I know I'm probably going to make a large batch of the Glazed Honey Chex Mix (now that I don't burn it anymore! ). Does anybody else have any ideas for travel-friendly foods that can't spoil or get stale quick?

Rice cakes, Cinnamon graham crackers and if you can tolerate them raisins. I'm IBS C and raisins work well for me when I'm feeling backed up. How about pita bread?

Ooh.. I haven't really tried raisins. I might have to get some to see if they do anything. Maybe I'll wait until I get home to try it though
Thanks for the suggestions!

My favorite are actually CRAISIANS (not sure if I spelled it right) its with the other dried fruit stuff at the store, it really just raisins covered in cinnamon! YUMMY! I know Heather has raisins listed as insoluable fiber so be careful if your prone to D!

I'm also going away, and plan to bring granola bars made with oats, rice, and a bit of soy (Nature Valley), as well as Cheerios and small individual tetra packs of rice milk, baked chips of some kind, bananas, peaches (peel to eat), Sourdough bread and avacadoes, carrot sticks to have at the end of a meal, homemade low fat oatmeal cookies, plain melba toast, and baked rice crackers. Things to pick up along the way at farm markets, cafe's, and stores: chicken breast sandwich meat, baked potatoes, steamed rice or sushi, fresh fruit, apple sauce, and hopefully some lowfat, fructose/cornsyrup-free sweet treat! I find that when I travel long distances by car etc, it helps to go for long walks each day or night, in order to stay healthy and have fewer or no attacks. Good luck and have Fun! Kris

I have just returned from traveling for about 3 weeks! I made it through with only two MINOR tummy troubles. In my suitcase, I took: -a loaf of Heather's banana bread -unsweetend applesauce(in little cups) -Rice Chex -Baked Lays -Soudough bread and packets of jelly -Dried Mangoes -Gatorade (I too am IBS-C) Sounds like a lot, but it's worth it. Also check out the section in the First Year IBS on Eating Out. Good Luck! Leah
