Ok - I'm being extremely paranoid and the people I work with aren't helping one BIT! I froze some cod, got it out of the freezer last night, and microwaved it, all fine, it was cooked - then cooled the leftovers down and put it in the fridge, had it for lunch today! It smelt the office out a bit, as fish does, but am really paranoid that it was off? I have a real phobia of being sick and everyone that comes into our office saying "ooh, whats that smell" - which makes me worse I think I've poisoned myself!!!! What do you think? Any help to placate this paranoid person, gratefully accepted!

I have never had a problem eating fishy leftovers...as long as it was properly cooked the first time you'll be fine. Fish just smells!

I actually know what you mean about the phobia of sickness thing, I too have that, and you can actually think your way into feeling really ill , just by a slight comment. I have never been sick since I was 7 now 41 and it is something else that rules my life. I am always fine in the long run and I know you will be too. Don't worry, you will be fine.

I know - how cool - honestly, this place has been one of the reasons I developed the IBS! Its the bain of my life! I'm going to be stress free for a whole week (then I start my new job) but lets not think that far ahead eh!!! I've had nothing to do for the last week - so I've spent my whole day on the IBS boards!! Its been great....

My brain works at about 100mph and when I haven't got anything to do, I start creating things in my mind (hence the fish thing) - and if people aren't posting, that becomes a prob too!! ha ha!

This is exactly the reason that I refuse to bring fish to eat at work Tuna is my limit - no need to bring on the extra anxiety which will only flare up my symptoms.

As for people complaining about the smell - just ignore them - the smell will pass - and it's completely normal for fish to smell fishy when reheated!

I never, ever cook meat in the microwave. The microwave cooks in spots, even if the food is rotated. So, it's possible that not all the bacteria in the meat will be killed. I'm afraid of becoming sick too, so that's one of the precautions I take. (Once I read that, I stopped cooking meat that way. Heating it up in there would probably be ok, but not cooking from raw.)
