Just to let you know for the past three weeks I have been following Heathers diet and have felt an awful lot better. Have been keeping a diary and eating soluble fibre first before eating anything else has helped a great deal as well as not drinking with my meal. I have slipped up a bit today and will probably pay for this tomorrow morning. Anyway thanks everyone. I wonder if anyone can help me with a problem I have with my 15 year old son. Dan has had problems going to the toilet since being a child, sometimes being days on end before he would actually pass anything and when he did his stools always used to block the toilet but inbetween he would mark his underpants. We always thought he would grow out of this and had consulted the doctor on numerous occassions, he was given mild laxatives. Now he is older obviously he likes to keep things private but now is the opposite and seems to be going all the time, I know there is aproblem due to the state of the loo after he has been on. His pants are sometimes in the same state. He will NOT see the doctor as he swears he doesn't have a problem. Anybody have any idea what this could be, he never complains of tummy ache and is a good eater, although a bit on the thin side. Sorry this is a long question, hope someone can help, I need to get this sorted.

Maybe if you got him on here, he'd realise that there is really no reason to be embarrassed about these things with docs. It could be IBS, but it could be lots of other things as well. There will be something to help him, but he needs to see a doc and get a diagnosis first.

Thanks Linz for getting back to me, I'll get him to check this site over and try and make him come with me to the doctors, trouble is now he is 15 I can't pick him up and carry him to the car, he's much taller than me now. Again thanx for responding

...and hopefully he'll realise that A: he needs to get checked out and B: there is plenty of hope!

Good luck.
