IBS - D and need help

I am an IBS-D, and have been for over a year and a half now. I finally found Heather's sight, and started on SFS. I was starting to form within 12 hours, but then I was up all night running to the bathroom (literally every 2 hours). This has been going on the past few days since I started the SFS. I am fine throughout the day, and then am up all night. Could it be the SFS? Could my colon not be used to formed bowels since I have had D for a year and a half? I am starting Heather's diet today, so I am hoping that helps. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Really need to know what SFS you're on and what dose you've got up to. You should really still be on a pretty small dose to avoid any side effects. Also need to know what time(s) of day you take the SFS.

Here's hoping we can help!

Hi, sorry about the D. My "D" started only in the mornings and then over 5 yrs lasted all day, but never woke me up at night. It would get me up at 4 or 5 a.m. at times. I went to a GI for the first time last Dec. and she put me on Citrucel (2 tabs only at bedtime with very little water) and also prescribed Nulev (an anti-spasmodic for the pain). According to my GI, people with "D" have to be careful not to drink too much water with the SFS because that can cause D. But by taking with only a little water it helps the SFS absorb the liquid in the colon and expand so that it helps solidify and slow things down. This helped to start quiet things down, but it also helped to start Heather's diet "what to eat when you can't eat anything" (soluble fiber only) for a few days. I still take the Citrucel every night, but only take Nulev a couple nights a week.
I don't know if I've been any help, but there are others that know a lot more than I do. So keep checking and hang in there.
Hope you feel better soon.
