Baked ham - and pork, no matter how lean - are all on the "no-no" list, as far as I know.

I eat Jennie-O turkey ham with no problems, though.

I eat Jennie-O Turkey Ham also, had it the last two nights for dinner... the only thing I notice is that IF you have gas after like the next day... it is a little strong on the nose , but no bloating or anything.....

Pork/ham is red meat, which is a major IBS trigger. Pork meat is one of the fattiest things on this planet!

Hi, and welcome!!

Good for you for trying to stay away from red meat!!

Yes, as Casey said, ham is pork and pork is red meat. As Heather explains, the problem is that the size of the protein molecule in red meat is much larger than chicken and fish, so that even the very lean cuts of pork still are IBS triggers. So even if the baked ham is labeled 99% fat free, that makes it good for people watching their weight but still not safe for us. I know, it's not fair, is it?!

I have an answer that is actually contradictory to the others. I have had IBS for two years and although I stay away from all other red meat I eat ham pretty much on a regular basis. Of course, it's the lean ham, but I have no trouble at all with it. I really think it depends on the individual. I would try it and see how your body handles it. I would try to eat something like a ham and turkey sandwich and see how that works for you.
When you eat baked ham like at Christmas time, peel the skin off and eat the ham that really hasn't been soaking in the juices. I find that pretty safe.
Good luck if you try!!!!
