For those of you who experience pain after BM, whether it is from hemmoroids, IBS - C/D

This might sound yucky - but I have been using it to "wipe" and it helps A LOT

Here goes:

Mix 1 part hand lotion
1 part water
a few drops of peppermint oil - sold in health food stores

Put in a bottle, shake

I use an empty old shampoo bottle

After you "go", use this to wipe. It is very soothing. A nurse gave me this formular, much better than the brand name wipes.

You can adjust according to your needs.

Hope this helps someone...certainly helps me!

I did something similar after my colonscopy prep. My boyfriend suggested using hand/body lotion to "wipe". I think it was some kind with aloe or something. It stung like a mother when I first put it on, but after a bit there was bigtime relief.

Thanks for the "recipe"!

I was wondering the same thing. At first I thought peppermint being "minty" of course would be "hot", but then some natural things work in mysterious ways. That and I thought maybe the water dilution made it not as strong?

Who knows, but if I ever need it again, I'll be sure to use your version.

Tried it on hems and fissures - any pain in that area, it helps to smooth out everything. Very soothing. For C and D, it helps because that area gets stressed out.
