Could someone tell me what I can expect to happen as I decrees my dose of pred.
I assume that if my UC is still active I will start to see blood again but what other side affects have other had when the lower there dose.
I am lowering today from 40 mg to 30 mg.

Thanks

I'm not quite sure what pred is, but it sounds like maybe you should consult your doctor before changing your medication. Your doctor prescribes a certain dose for a reason and it is important for him to monitor your medication.

Ok I know the pred part but what is UC? As far as I understand prednisone is always prescribed to be lowered gradually. They make packs like that for it. I was on it for poison ivy many times and I found the side effects of it last for a long time after you go off it but lowering it had no specific problems other than when I stopped and still had poison ivy! I find pred. is horrific on digestion and the increased hunger takes forever to go away. The good news is it makes you have energy to exercise hard.

IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!

I am sorry I get used to shorting the words. It is Ulceratice Colitis = UC
and pred. is predinsone ( I think I spelled that close)

I had a hard time coming off the prednisone for my Crohn's a couple of months ago. I started at 60mg and went down 5mg a week. I decreased every Friday and that night I couldn't sleep, had the sweats and got very anxious. It usually only lasted a day or so. It's a nasty drug but can work wonders. 2 months of prednisone and one dose of Remicade and my Crohn's is in remission again!
Good luck!
