Are mushrooms (non-hallucinagenic) a trigger food or are they safe? Does it depend on how they are prepared (I'd assume fried mushrooms are bad) and/or what you eat them with (is it like insoluble fiber where you have to eat a lot of soluble fiber beforehand)? I like mushrooms.

I eat them -- though I admit mostly the canned kind -- in my food all the time and have no troubles with them. I have heard that others do have trouble though. You may have to experiment with them yourself to determine how you do. As far as making them safe --- I never eat anything without soluble fiber -- so I stay safe. I just think they add such a nice, meaty texture to things -- and since we eat so many meat free meals.... they really are nice.

yumm I love mushrooms as well.. but they do tend to come out the other end intact.. so I think you need to be careful how much.. but generally I love them so much I eat them in large amounts regardless.

'Shroominess' ha ha thats a great word!!
I seem to have no problem with mushrooms, I often eat them in my rice or in pasta sauces and they pose no probs. The only time I have ever had any problems with anything of 'shroominess' was a tin of cream of mushrooms soup I ate a couple of months back, my god, never again D with a capital D.
