Today is my 4th day that I have eaten rice, bread, water and peppermint tea. I have defineately felt much better and have had no major reactions to this food, but even though I don't have that urgent explosive type diarrhea while eating this food, my stomach still is bloating and still doesn't feel great, last night I ate boiled carrots with the rice and today was the worst of the the 4 mornings so I guess that is it for the carrots. I thought carrots would be the ultimate vegetable. About the stool, even though it isn't diarrhea it still come out semi soft and not in one peice. I know this sounds gross, but can anyone tell me why I can never go completely solid, It is always in a million pieces which makes going to the bathroom take such along time for me every morning and it takes forcing even though I wouldn't say I am constipated. It is there but needs pressure on my abdomen to come out. And why are things I eat always recognizable when they come out of me. I can see particles of carrots, and in the past (meaning before this week)any vegetables like salad, tomatoes etc come out like they went in except smaller, even when I eat thing they come out that color. If I eat cotton candy I go blue. I am happy that my stomach feels a little better and I am not having diarrhea, but I am still having to spend 1 1/2 hours on the toilet in the morning to get the small amount out of me even now that my diet has been restricted. I can still feel the trapped gas pockets in my left lower side also and it is hard to get that out too. It always seems that when I get that out a movement directly follows, but this goes on and on in small amounts. Maybe there is no chance for me to turn this problem around after having IBS for so long. I feel that my intestines no longer even function normally no matter what I eat. It is like they are on manual instead of automatic. I am not giving up, but when I came out of the bathroom and my husband saw my face he said I looked defeated, and he was exactly right, I was just surprised he could see it on my face. I think of all the things I wish, is that every morning I could just go in the bathroom and be done with it, I just can't bare sitting on the toilet every day for at least 1 1/2 hours any more, and I don't think I should have to if I am willing to eat this cardboard.

I wondered the same thing about how it looks. I been trying to stay on the diet now for about 7 days, I do fill better and the trips are less but still not there. I make multy trips to the restroom in the mornings and I feel abd hear the gas rumbling threw me before I can go. I am so glad you are braver to ask than me!

I really thought it was just me that ate something and it came out the same.

I will be glad to read your replies. I just cant believe there are others with the same problems and questions.

I do not think my body likes rice though, It seems that everyone else can tolerate it but me.

It sound to me like you are on the right road. It could take weeks but if you are like me after an attack, it takes a while. You should gradually start going less often and your stools should start getting larger and fewer. Stick with it a couple of weeks and see if that happens. Are you taking SFS? You will need to get that up to a good amount but slowly because it will temporarily make you looser and go more often until you adjust to it then like WOW! all of a sudden you go one large stool in the morning and no more the rest of the day. WOW!!!

So maybe the first few days taking SFS can make the D a little worse

I seem to feel okay but the D has been worse but the gas has been a little better.

Girl, I do the same thing. I thought it was just me, so I didnt have the courage to speak about it to anyone. I don't eat carrots any longer, and if I do have a salad it is always at the last of the meal, with bread. I usually do fine eating it in that order. But, yes I would love to go once in the morning and get it over with. I have tried so many sfs, they all give me gas, everything gives me gas. So, now I am going to try the tablet form and see how that works out, I sure hope it does because I am so tired of this. I am gaining weight also, I just got so tired of the diet and only eating certain foods, I spent too much time pigging out on ice cream this summer. Now, I have to get myself together and get things straightened out. Goodluck toyou, let me know how it goes!
