Does that mean that more than 400 mg can be taken safely to your knowledge? I am prone to colds and bronchitis, yhis year I'm trying to get a headstart.

I will be asking a pharmacist, of course, but I'm trying to get some insight from someone who takes it.

Thanks.

Well my bottle of 400mg tablets says take 3-6 tablets a day. But then you're only ssupposed to take Echinacea for 6 weeks. I find I do pretty good on the lower dose, taking it all year round. 500mg Vitamin C a day will also help a lot. These two things have saved me from my at-least-one-a-month viruses!

I grow it and make an occasional tea out of it... mostly I take it when sick.. from talking to a herbologist a few years ago its effectiveness goes down considerably if you use it all the time... so basically when I'm around sick people I add some to my tea or when I'm not feeling myself...

So it is better to take it when you feel a cold or flu-like symptoms coming on rather than on a daily basis?

I have never taken it before. I am trying to prepare my body for the cold and flu season so I want get sick or if i do, it will not be as bad.

Yes it is better to take when you feel cold symptoms coming on! It won't 'stop' a cold when you get one - but it definately helps stop the cold from coming on! When I feel like I'm getting sick, I'll take 3 of them 3 times a day! Sometimes even 4. Dont take them on a daily basis or you'll build immunity to them.

Thank all of you for your information. I shall take it only when I feel a cold coming on or if I know I am going to be around someone with a cold.
