Has anyone tried it? I would like to but am still looking for a hypnotherapist in my area who I feel confident knows enough about IBS. A few years back before IBS I went through two years of chronic insomnia. Nothing helped ( and I tried everything my doctor suggested) until I went to see a hynotherapist specilalising in sleep problems. Instantly I was sleeping fantastically and have not had a problem since. So I really believe in the benefits of hypnotherapy but need to find one I feel confident can help.

I also read an article the other day in a magazine about "Moratherapy" and how it is being used to successfully treat digestive disorders. I immediately rang up about it and apparently it is a needleless acupuncture. They concentrate on the energy flow through the body. Again, I would like to try it but am hesitant when I don't know anyone who has. Has anyone heard of it?

Kerrie

Hi
I am doing the hypnotherapy tapes Heather recommends in her book, and although I am only on day 21, I can already see a difference. I feel less anxious, more confident, relaxed, and able to get through my busy day without worrying about having an attack. When I do get stuck in the bathroom, it is not as big a deal to me psychologically as it used to be. Also, I feel hopeful that one day at a time I will get better than I have been in years.

AS for the other therapy you mentioned, I have tried accupressure, and find its results are relaxation, and a cessation of symptoms of IBS for about two days. Recently I am doing accupuncture in conjunction with a Chinese Herbal Prescription given by a Doctor of Chinese Medicine, and that in combination with the IBS diet Heather suggests are helping me immensely. Instead of having diarhea every day, I have only had it twice in the last month. I am still dealing with crazy amounts of gas and bloating though, so need to get more help/advice on that.
Good Luck, it sounds like you are already very familiar with hypnotherapy, so it must work well for you.

My local women's specialist/GP also practices hyponotherapy & it's made quite a difference.

I'm able to get to a medium-level trance with her help, and despite how bizzare this is going to sound, actually had conversations with little lego men in my tummy to reassure them that everything should be working well & asking them what they needed me to do.

Once they told me that they weren't getting enough water, so I made sure I drank heaps that day, which helped.. And another time I got a big hug from the friendly Yakult bacteria.

Apparently my story is really common..

It makes me feel like I have a way of communicating with my belly when it gets sore.

I am in Melbourne and would highly recommend my GP for this & other IBS related stuff. She's excellent. Let me know if anyone wants her details.
