Congratulations for making it this long! I was diagnosed 3 years ago but didn't find Heather's site until 2 months ago. My goal right now is to make it one month attack free. Knowing that people like you have had success helps keep my motivated to stay on the diet.

One of my frustrations is despite having IBS D and cutting out dairy, red meat, fried foods, margarine and butter, etc. I haven't lost any weight.

I have also lost close to 40 pounds since following the diet. I know that when I was real sick with the IBS I didn't eat hardley anything. Now that I am eating again I don't eat such big meals. I get full rather fast. So I have been eating less and better. It is frustrating to me is when people say I am so proud of you for losing the weight. UMM Hello I didn't mean to. It is just a good side effect. I will take all the good things from this I can. Have you had your thyroid checked. I know my aunt couldn't lose weight either. They found out she had thyroid problems once that was regulated she dropped alot of weight.
Good Luck

Thanks for all the good wishes!!! The weight loss was just a benefit-wasn't trying at all. The 5 small meals per day with no red meat, dairy, caffeine, etc just seemed to do it! i was stuck at 40lbs for awhile and now I'm dropping again-I'd like to stabilize at another 50 off-but whatever happens, happens. I'm eating finally for my health and it's great!!!! Plus, cheating just makes me sick anyway!! The IBS diet is yummy once you get used to it!!!! Maryh
