I just wanted to share some good news with everyone. I feel GREAT! I've been on my AD's for 2 1/2 weeks now and all the side effects I had before(nausea, reflux, etc) are gone and have been for a few days now. I am hoping they are gone for good too.
I haven't felt abdominal cramps in so long (2 weeks) that I don't remember what they feel like. I used to have them all day, every day. I no longer have 'd' or have to take Imodium at all. I can also eat a more varied amount of food (within limits, of course).
Anyhow, I highly recommend everyone with IBS consider anti-depressants as the anti-spasmotics did squat for me, and many other people.
I'm pretty pleased and hope everyone else feels good today too! YAY!

Tina, that *rocks*. I'm SO glad the side effects have eased up and that you're feeling so much better! Yeah!!
I can't decide if mine are helping me IBS-wise yet or not. They're helping with the anxiety, though, for sure, and they've DEFINITELY helped me eat a lot more, so I guess I'm happy with that for now!
Hope you keep on feeling better and better!

That's great news.
I'm thinking about asking my doctor about these. Do they help with the going all the time even if it's not D? How about urgency? I need to find some answers for me...
Also do you know any anti-depressants that might be safe while you are trying to conceive/and or pregnant?
Thanks! Sandy

Ya, it's some much needed improvement with my IBS. Mind you I still have my insomnia, I don't think it's gotten worse though. And I find my appetite has decreased but that could be because my stomach's gotten smaller with my portion's reduced.
I feel pretty good and I hope that you continue to see improvements too!
Take care, Casey.

I suggest you talk to your doctor and/or a pharmacist. Pharmacists are often much better informed about meds and when not to use them.
Having said that, my sister in law was on Prozac all during her pregnancy and not only is her daughter fine, she's gifted. )

Hi Sandy,
I'm no expert so maybe someone else can answer these questions. But I don't think the AD's would help with frequent bm's and urgency. I would use Imodium for that.
As far as the pregnancy thing goes. I have no idea. Sorry. I did a google search and found this for you. http://www.mercola.com/2003/may/7/antidepressants_pregnancy.htm

I can't speak from personal experience, but I know a couple people on here have mentioned that Zoloft is safe during pregnancy. A board search will probably confirm that.
