If I get up in the morning with an IBS attack (pain that makes me want to double over, gas pain, heartburn pain, etc.), I do some yoga positions (triangle, plough, and others that I like and the pain goes away. Usually it will stay away, although sometimes it comes back later in the day. But it really does work. I think the positions move things around. I have tried several drugs from the doctor and none work. Sometimes peppermint tea is helpful, but yoga positions always give some type of relief.

Twisting postures, forward folds, inverted postures all very good for both IBS-D and C. I love yoga I have taught it for 4 years. On my worst days Yoga is my best bet. I admit teaching when I feel bad gives me some anxiety (I cant leave my students during that hour) at first but by the end of class I have forgotten. Keep your faith in it and I belive that even when you are not in a class you can closs your eyes start your yoga breathing and picture yourself in a flow and you can eliminate an attack or help get yourself through it. Thanks for the reply. It is nice to know that there is something out there (Yoga) that helps. The medications sure don't do a thing. Right now I don't have time for a class, but I practice yoga three times a week at home. When my schedule permits it, I always take classes. I learn something helpful at every class. Thanks, Laraine
