Is potato bread safe for us? I see some in my store all the time made by orowheat (I think) but for some reason I was thinking it was bad....

Maybe this will help? I found the ingredients in it..... but someone else should advise as to whether is it ok or not. I DO eat the "fresh, baked daily" kinds, that just have potato, flour, salt and no preservatives...... but not the pre-sliced sandwich bread in the stores.

Because of trying to lower my cholesterol, hubby and I have gone completely whole grains -- if it's not whole wheat, we do without. However, before discovering that BOTH of our cholesterol levels are high, we used to eat a lot of the fresh potato rolls from Safeway. They're delicious and freeze beautifully. I'd always have one before my insolubles.
Check 'em out!
Bev
P.S.: I'm lucky; unlike most IBS-ers, whole wheat doesn't bother me at all.

Bob's Red Mill sells potato flour, which makes a wonderful addition to homemade bread dough. You can use instant mashed potatoes, too, either dry out of the box or mixed up first. YUM.
