Hi Bev! I printed out your slow cooker recipe for the sp. sauce and it is making my mouth water! I plan to make this tomorrow. I couldn't find bulk turkey sausage at the store so I got links. My questions is should I slice them and cook in the pan OR squeeze the meat out of the casings, crumble up and then brown? If you could let me know your opinion that would be great! Thanks! Linda

Hi Linda,
You're gonna LOVE this sauce! I'm making another batch tomorrow myself. I am absolutely addicted to the stuff. I like to make it in the crock pot, then put it into individual serving freezer containers and pop them in the freezer for those days when I don't feel like cooking.
Okay, you get the bulk Italian turkey sausage (mild) in the FREEZER part of the grocery store where they have the frozen breakfast stuff, like Morningstar Farms sausages and stuff. The brand is "The Turkey Store." It's MUCH cheaper than the links. You can use the links, but remove the casings (by the way, those casings are made from PORK parts -- EW) and chop up the meat real fine so it's like hamburger meat (or in our case ground turkey meat), then brown it with the onions, mushrooms and garlic.
YUM!!!! Let me know how you like it. Are you having anyone over for dinner? It's SOOOOO a party-pleaser! Don't forget the garlic bread and soy parmesan!
