Bev, I noticed the regular Bisquick has buttermilk and eggs in it. Does the low as well? Joan

Yeah, I knew the original Bisquick had buttermilk in it, but I don't think the reduced-fat does. I would check for you, but unfortunately I threw the box out because it doesn't have the recipe on it for waffles. I mix the two together and put it in the regular Bisquick box.
I have strange ways.

Nope -- I just checked. It contains enriched flour bleached, partially hydrogenated soybean and/or cottonseed oil, leavening, dextrose, sugar, salt.
I left out what they enriched the flour with -- and the leavening ingredients -- but they are the standards too --- no buttermilk in any case - or eggs. You have to add those with the recipes.

My regular Bisquick doesn't have either... I just checked the box!

Hmmmm. This is a package of Bisquick original all purpose baking mix. At the bottom of the nutrition facts it lists lactose salt, buttermilk, egg, soy flour, etc. It also says it contains wheat, milk, egg, and soy products. Is mine different than yours? It is Betty Crocker.

I thought this stuff had BUTTERMILK in it -- but it doesn't!
Okay, I've solved the puzzle. I just pulled out my old Bisquick cookbook (yes, believe it or not, I used to belong to the Bisquick Recipe Club). There is a picture of the ORIGINAL box of Bisquick, and it says, "Buttermilk Baking Mix." That was back in 1980. Obviously somewhere along the line -- recently apparently -- they stopped putting buttermilk in the mix. Yaaay!
Lets have some pancakes.

That's exactly what my mix is, and it doesn't contain those things. It only says it contains wheat ingredients. When did you get that?? This is quite the mystery.

But I know I didn't purchase this package that long ago! It is fairly recent. Guess I need to check out a new box at the store.
