I am not very good with computers and will try with posting this. I have been suffering with IBS-D for almost 40 years
now. I have read numerous books on the subject and have tried changing my eating habits constantly. My son gave me this computer and I found this website. I ordered the Acacia fiber and Heather's books and am trying to get educated again. I am lactose intolerent and have a daughter who has just been diagnoised with Crohn's disease after years of Doctors telling her that they could not find anything wrong.
My prayer is that this website will help me get to lead a normal like without the fear of needing a bathroom whenever I leave the house. Over the years(40) I had learned on my own what foods would cause an attack and always tried to avoid them. The attacks have gotten worse over the years and
leave me exhausted. I have just started with eating soluable fiber foods the last two weeks and taking the Acacia. I think finally with the recipes that I have seen here that I will be able to help myself to get better.
The hardest thing that I am finding is going out to dinner.
Does anyone have any suggestions? What do you think about
IBS and Crohns being inherited? I also have cousins on my mother's side that have various stomach issues.
Any help will be appreciated.

Welcome to the Boards - I haven't tried eating at restaurants much as I'm just working on getting stable. But, a search for "eating out" produced some posts. Here's the link to two that looked really helpful.

Sand's post ~ Chain restaraunts, eating out, buying food

It might be possible to inherit a tendency toward IBS. My Mom had either diverticulitis or diverticulosis (I've forgotton which.) And I have IBS. The Research Library has this one (maybe more): web page

Hope you have a great day
