I want to make this pumpkin turtle pie with substitutes and need to know what I can sub for 8 oz of non dairy whipped topping. Can we use Cool whip if we get the FAT FREE?? Also it calls for a topping of caramel which I am sure I can just leave it of my piece unless we can have it? Anyone know??
It has Can Pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla instant pudding, pecans chopped, graham cracker crust ( i tried to make a crust with graham crackers from on here and it was horrible so any suggestions for that too) and the 1 cup Milk and I will use ALMOND milk..

Cool Whip Light is probably okay doable but here's an old post on explaining what's in it so you can double-check: web page
I'm not sure which graham cracker crust you made but I had good luck with this one: web page
As for having caramel it depends what's in the kind you're using. Recipes for caramel seem to call for butter and cream so probably not.

I can't remember the brand name, but I was at Whole Foods a week ago and they had some soy-based non-dairy whipped cream - the kind that you squirt out of a can!!! I was so excited! It was on the shelf right next to the dairy kind.

It comes in a can like Reddi whip. Tru Whip comes in a tub like Cool Whip. Hub loves it but it costs so much more than Cool Whip. I try to keep it for myself and give him Cool Whip. I agree Dream Whip works well. use a cold milk alternative and a cold bowl. One envelope doesn't make a huge amount.
