Those who suffer from IBS may benefit from the basic techniques of the food combining diet that advices against eating proteins and complex carbs together in a meal. Although it isn't proven by science, but improper food combining may cause gas, cloating, constipation, diarrhea, etc. Our bodies use different enzymes to break down food. So combining the right foods may enable the body to digest food without discomfort.
Below is a simple chart
Good food combinations: Complex carbs + starchy (beans with rice) Complex carbs + vegatables (veggie stir-fry with rice) Protein + non starchy vegetables (chiken with brocoli)
Poor Food Combinations Complex carbs + protein (chicken and pasta) More that one + protein at a meal(steak with chicken) Protein + starchy veggies (meat and potatoes)
This may seem overwhelming, but is worth the try. I've been practing for nearly six months, and my digestion has improved. Remind you, it isn't a miracle diet, and everyone is different, but it may offer a little relief.
