I made these tonight, and I thought they were good. Hubby didn't like them...a little too dry. They are completely fat-free and have a good taste. It is a combination of two recipes I had: John Robbins and Marilu Henner.
Mushroom Oat Burgers
Saute the following in a small pan. Add water to keep moist as you saute: 1/2 small onion, chopped 1 small can mushrooms, chopped
Add the following: 1/4 c. soy sauce (low sodium) 1 tsp. ground sage (dry) 2 tsp. parsley (dry) dash celery salt 3/4 tsp. basil (dry) dash garlic powder (you can use more, hurts my tum) 1 c. hot veggie broth (I used 1/2 a Knorr cube)
Stir and remove from heat. Add 2 c. quick oats, and let stand for about 5 minutes to absorb the liquid.
On lightly sprayed baking sheet, shape into 5 patties and bake at 425 drgrees for 25 minutes, turning patties over after 15 minutes. Cool slightly and put on a good bun. Add tomatoes, lettuce, ketchup, or whatever you like. Enjoy!
