I tried something tonight. Instead of using chocolate Tofutti ice cream of some sort and then adding rice milk or soymilk to it for a shake, I did the reverse. I added almond breeze chocolate milk to Tofutti vanilla ice cream and put in a smidgen of peanut butter (have only tolerated a little pb so far) in the blender. It didn't come out creamy like a shake, more like a chocolate pb milk, but I liked the fact that it didn't have the taste of soy or rice milk and the chocolate was the predominant flavor. I only used one 1/2 scoops of ice cream, a little milk, and the bit of pb so I think that kept the fat content down.

I make pb ice cream by using low sugar pb and ice cream in a blender to satisfy the pb cravings. Then I pour safe chocolate sauce on it.

What kind of "ice cream" are you using? I am using Tofutti brand but I want to try to find some Soy Delicous in a different HFS. The pb I am using (like I said, just a teaspoon for now) is Smuckers Natural so there is no added sugar, just peanuts and oil. What kind of safe chocolate topping do you drizzle on? Sounds good! thanks

I usually buy Soy Delicious or Soy Dream. I found a chocolate syrup in natural foods called Ahlaska and it has a polar bear on the bottle. It tastes pretty good and has natural sugars. I have always bought reduced fat skippy PB but lately I have bought the natural kind. I don't like the taste or the fat content. Reduced fat skippy has corn syrup but nothing unsafe- it is too sweet to mix into ice cream. My normal choc/pb soy delicious is too fake chocolately and I just want the pb flavor. so when I go off my no sugar diet I might try blending real peanuts into ice cream. You can make your own pb at Whole Foods stores btw.

Have you ever tried almond butter? It also goes good in shakes. I usually use 1 teaspoon.
