Ok, there has been lots of talk bet. the graham cracker crust and the pastry crust. My question (besides which one is better) I how do you make the pie. I have never made a pie and I was wondering b/c I'm combining two recipes what I should do. Should I make the crust, cook it and then fill it and bake again or do I just put it all in at once and bake according to the pumpkin pie directions? Hope this doesn't sound too dumb!! thanks Happy Thanksgiving!

If you're using the graham, bake the graham crust, fill it, then bake again. For pastry, all at once.

I used to bake my pie crusts from scratch, using my grandmother's cookbook and following her instructions. I thought my pie crusts were THE BEST I'd ever had. But about a month ago I discovered Pillsbury's refrigerated pie crust. OHMYGOD! It's incredible. You just drop it in a pie shell, fill it, bake it, and it comes out all flaky and YUMMY. You don't pre-bake the pie shell before filling it. (Okay, so it's not low fat, but then neither was my grandmother's.) I'm sorry to say it, but Grandma couldn't beat Pillsbury. Good luck with it! Bev.
