I am beyond excited. I just tried Vegenaise, and it's pretty darn good as a mayo substitute. IBS-safe, too!. I bought it at a local supermarket, but someone I work with says they sell it at Whole Foods as well.

You know, I've heard this is good. I should give it a try sometime.

Hi, I have used vegannaise for a few years now - I stopped when looking at this website as I was not sure if the fat content was acceptable for IBS? Does it appear okay to use - it tastes absolutely fantastic! Thanks, Debbie IBS-C

The ingredients in Vegenaise look IBS-safe (no egg yolks), but the amount of fat is an issue. Hellmann's Real Mayonnaise has 90 fat calories per Tablespoon; Vegenaise has 80 fat calories per Tablespoon; Hellmann's Reduced Fat Mayonnaise (what I use) has 20 fat calories per Tablespoon. So Vegenaise has just about as much fat per Tablespoon as plain old mayonnaise. That means you need to use it cautiously, keeping in mind how much fat you're adding to a dish. I could *probably* tolerate it thinly spread on a sandwich - especially one made on a roll so there's more bread - but I couldn't handle it as much of it as I'd need in a pasta salad, for example.

I bought a light version of a vegan mayonaise from a Whole Foods store here.
It has 3.5 g of fat per tablespoon and it is called Light Canola Mayo by Spectrum Naturals. It tastes very nice, I actually prefer the taste to that of real mayo.

I tried this one time and didn't care for it. Maybe I should give it another try. Is there a safe mayo out there? Are fat free on okay? I haven't eaten mayo for years as it upset my intestines.
Thanks, Karen

It's a soy-based fake mayonnaise I buy at Whole Foods. There's regular and fat free. I usually use it in egg salad. Honestly, I haven't had mayonnaise in so long I've probably forgotten what it tastes like, but I like this stuff. Probably not as rich as the original, but that's ok with me.

I love Vegenaise. I found it origionally at the local health food place and now I have found i at my local grocery store. I use it for everything and go through a huge jar about once a month! I use it for dip recipes, tarter sauce, sandwiches - the fat content doesn't bother me hardly - I just can't eat a bunch at once. If I make something that has a lot of it in the recipe, I can't have it as leftovers the next day.
