Can someone tell me if it tastes good or if it tastes anything like the real thing? I'm so afraid to taste it.

It can be an aquired taste for some. Try all the different flavors.

If you've ever had Neufchatel cheese, it's more like that than regular cream cheese. It's the best sub I've found so far.

Hi,
I was thrilled to find how good tofutti cream cheese is if you use the plain one. I didn't like other flavors, but the plain tofutti tasted so close to real cream cheese that I use it every morning on a small bagel with grape jelly or honey. It is delicious. And I am an excellent cook with a very particular palate. I don't usually like substitutions of anything. I hate fake vanilla in mix cakes or puddings,so I always make my own cakes and puddings or add real vanilla to an angel food cake mix. I have also discovered rice milk. It tastes wonderful and is a great substitute for milk in cooking and baking.
