Hey Guys,
I've been craving Tuna for a few days now but am afraid to eat anything out of a can. Is Tuna in water safe for us?? Doesn't it have preservatives that they don't list on the can??
ALSO...any recipe ideas for a good TUNA MELT SANDWICH??
THANKS =o)

I eat tuna all the time - about once a week. As long as it's packed in water (Not oil), I can handle it fine with a good SF base.
As for a tuna melt, I can't really help as I do not like any of the soy or rice cheeses.

Sounds good...yeah that's my problem too..I can't seem to find a cheese that I like either!! It's sooo frustrating because I LOVE CHEESE!! My friend recently tried a Moz.cheese (it's VEGAN) and it's sold in slices.."Tofruti"..she says it's really good...first one she tries that she likes...so I'm trying to find some info on an ingredient it contains called CARRAGEENAN to see if this is safe for IBS...if so...I'm gonna try it!!! I'll let you know!!! =o)

Just a comment... check the fat content of the tuna you buy. I accidentally bought chicken of the sea brand once and it was half fat!! Some of the other brands of "solid white" tunas are higher in fat, too. I always buy the Starkist chunk white and it never bothers me a bit.

CARRAGEENAN can be a trigger for IBS. It doesn't bother me, but I know it does others.

I love Heather's tuna melt! The cheese I use is called Soya Kaas, and it melts up really well.
