I made 2 unsafe apple pies this fall and froze one in its glass pie plate. I am baking it on Thursday. What is the best way to bake a frozen apple pie? The bottom crust has a tendency to get soggy and the apples sometimes are too crunchy. I have never baked a frozen pie before.

I found this:

Baking a frozen pie is also a help, as the crust begins to bake before the heat thaws the filling, and the entire pie bakes for longer than it would normally. If you bake a frozen pie, start it at 425°F (220°C) for 10 minutes, then lower it to 400°F (205°C) and bake it for 25 to 45 minutes longer than you would if it were not frozen, depending on how big the pie is.

Tamara do you still get Cooking lIght Magazine? The Decmeber issue talks about baking frozen pies. I'll look to see the page number when I get home. I just read it last night. They said fruit pies are really hard to bake frozen without a soggy crust but I think they offered some suggestions. I only skimmed the article so I can't rememeber!

I think my December issue should arrive today, as I have not gotten it yet but it usually comes a day or so after Gourmet comes.
