I would try prune juice. My 2 year old daughter is constipated a lot and that's what I give her. If your son won't drink prune juice, try mixing it with some apple juice.

I was VERY C yesterday (I had gone 10 days w/out going after an attack of D). Apple cider did the trick for me! It's even more fibrous than regular apple juice. Also, munching on raisins or other dried fruits can help.

Hi Kree, I was wondering if apple cider was safe or not. I've
seen it in my local grocery store the past week. I love the
stuff too, especially hot cider on a cold day(of which we
have many here, I suppose you do too). So you had gone 10
days without a BM!! That sounds incredible. Did you get very
sick at all? Hope you're ok now! -Bob

Hi Bob. I wouldn't drink apple cider on an empty stomach, but especially when I'm C a small glass with a meal hasn't bothered me yet. I just drink it carefully with SF like any other fruit juice. It doesn't bother me like OJ and other citrus juices, so I guess that's a good thing. I actually avoided it last year because I thought it had bothered me once, but this year I got brave and all is well so far! So I'd say use it cautiously, but considering that you tend to tolerate IF pretty well (don't you?) I'd guess you'll be fine.

Amazingly, I didn't feel that bad after 10 days of not going. I guess it's because I totally emptied myself out beforehand with the D. I just knew that if I didn't get it out soon I'd regret it!

Hi Kree, Good to hear that you weren't feeling too bad, and
probably even better after you went. So, I gather you are an
A then, eh. I also have found that citrus juices tend to upset
my stomach. I also have found that papaya juice makes my tummy
feel really good, so I drink a lot of that these days. Yes,I
think I am tolerating IF pretty well. I put a 1/4 cup of wild blueberries(7g's IF) in my oatmeal first thing in the
morning, and an hour later just before I leave for school,
I eat a 1 cup bowl of Raisin Bran(7g's IF), but I follow
that with two papaya enzyme tablets and some papaya juice.
When I was down at my sister's place in Chicago at the end
of May, I just about consumed all IF and tons of it, and
didn't feel bad, plus drinking coffee on top of that, not
a whole lot though. I think it was psychological though,
that I was with my immediate family, my Dad was there also
at the time. At that time I didn't know about Heather and
her website that's why I was consuming all that IF.
By the way, I'm amazed that you manage to cook and bake
so much. I pretty much eat the exact same simple stuff
every day, and just manage to bake a cinnamon zuc bread
once a week. -Bob
