I haven't tried this yet, but it came up in another post and it looks really simple and really good, so here goes:
This is from the Better Homes and Gardens New Cook Book, copyright 1981.
Tomato Sauce for Pizza
1 8-ounce can tomato sauce 1 7-1/2-ounce can tomatoes, cut up 1 medium onion, chopped (about 1/2 cup) 2 cloves garlic, minced 1 Tablespoon dried oregano, crushed 1 Tablespoon dried basil, crushed 1 teaspoon sugar 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/8 teaspoon pepper
Combine all ingredients in saucepan. Bring to boiling. Reduce heat, cover and simmer 5 to 10 minutes or until onion is tender. Cool.
This makes enough for 2 12-inch thin-crust pizzas.

This does look really good ... but if you're in a hurry and/or lazy, you can make ultra-cheap ultra-easy pizza sauce by mixing an 8 oz can of tomato sauce with 1 t pizza seasoning (I buy Tone's -- eighty-nine cents!). It's good, I swear. I do use more than 1 t, maybe 1 1/3 t? I use one can per cookie sheet pizza (9x13 rectangle or so).
One of my favorite things to do (if my GERD is behaving) -- make a big batch of homemade bread dough, roll out dough, ooze on some pizza sauce, toss in some turkey pepperoni, crimp them up into pizza pockets, and sprinkle cornmeal and black pepper on them. Yum! Even without cheese they're super. I also like to do onions and green olives. Smoked chopped fajita chicken and red onions are awesome but generally too much work for me.
Mmm, I'm hungry now!

Take a small can of tomato paste. Add 1/2 cup water. Add 1 tsp oregano and 1 tsp salt. Basil and garlic if you want. Voila!
