Question about freezing meals...

I know I have a few months, but since it'll be hard for anyone to bring me food I can eat when I have this baby, I'm looking for some good ideas of meals I can make ahead of time and freeze.

I have never frozen any meals, I know that sounds dumb, but I don't know what to make, how long you can freeze stuff for, etc.

I do have a good chicken lasagne recipe from this site, so that will be good - but how long can you freeze it for?

Any other meal suggestions?

Thank you!!!!

People brought me meals but I was just very specific. I only really had 3 meals dropped off and only one person brought me ham. One made chicken soup and another friend brough me homemade spaghetti sauce that lasted us 2 or 3 meals lol. It actually was very helpful.

There are books you can get from the library to help you figure it out. I've been meaning to get it from my library but just keep forgetting. I'm sure there are more than one but the one is called Once a Month cooking. There are also a lot of websites if you search once a month cooking or freezing meals. A lot of them seemed to be casseroles though when I was searching. I froze leftover chicken soup before and it was pretty good when we had it again. The noodles were a little mushy but I guess noodles can sometimes be difficult.

As far as how long, it depends on what you are freezing. You can also search online to find out that information and I'm sure it would be in that book too.

I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be too early to do the meals now. Do it when you are feeling up to it because you may not feel or be able to do when you get closer to the end. You can even make extra food when you cooking dinner and freeze the extras.

Things with ground meat are always a good bet. Things like Chili, lasagnas, spaghetti sauce. They'll keep a good 6 months I think. I have a chili with macaroni recipe that freezes really well - makes a HUGE batch - I froze it in several smaller batches. If you want me to post it let me know.

There's a forum on Recipezaar for Bulk / OAMC / Freeze / Make Ahead
here. OAMC (once a month cooking) is all the rage there, lol. The people there would probably be able to answer any questions you have about it!
