When I make my rice in the steamer, it always clumps up in the fridge later. How do I do it for a rice salad so it doesn't get all clumpy and sticky? Any particular rice?
Thanks.

I make basmati rice in a large batch, let it cool FIRST...then put it in a tuperwear type container that is almost double the size of the amount of cooked rice and store it in the fridge . Then before when I need to use some of it....I shake it really good before I remove the lid... that breaks up most of the clumps.

Also, maybe you could mix it with whatever liquid goes with the rice salad before putting it in the fridge. That way the liquid might keep it from clumping.

Rinsing rice, using long grain and cooling it and chilling it on a baking sheet etc will help. Some rices are made to be sticky so use long grain or basmati instead. Cooling on a tray really helps!
