Ok, Shell I hope your turkey turned out wonderful! Did you go to foodnetwork.com? I went to a friend's for dinner and sort of a party and the turkey thing didn't go so well. It was the second time I was forced to decide if I should tell a person the turkey wasn't done after they asked me to cut it up. I can't believe it- these people are gourmetish- at least the husband (who is a jerk) and so when we got there she was putting a probe thermometer in the bird and I said how mine always goes way up in temp and then I move it and it goes way down (I think it gets hot and cooks the meat a little around where it is put). So the jerky guy says he has never had that problem. Ok so at about 3:00 she takes the turkey out and says it is done. I debated on saying "move the thermometer" by then the husband had gone to work. I didn't say anything but I did tell her to cover it with foil but she refused. Then it sat for 2 hours!!! Then she asked me to cut it and it was oozing red! So I cut the legs and wings off and put them back in the oven and sliced the breast meat and served it. It was cold too but she didn't seem to care. Then she served dinner buffet style with the other friends and then left everything out until we left at 10:30. I didn't know if I should say that was unsafe but I decided to keep my mouth shut. Irregardless we had a super fun time! And my stuffing was yummy.
