I make specialty breads. The guys at my husbands work order them around this time of year. This is my Fav and would like to be able to eat it. I will make it the regular way for the orders but I want some to.
Pear Bread
2 cups all purpose flour 1 cup sugar 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg 1/2cup butter (What would I use??) 2 Eggs (How many egg whites??) 1/4 buttermilk (Is there anything I can substiute this with) 1 teaspoon vannilla extract 1 cup finley chopped peeled pears.
In a large bowl, combine dry ingredients ; cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. In a small bowl, beat eggs, buttermilk and vanilla; stir into dry ingredients just until moistened. Fold in the pears. Spoon into three greased 5-inx2-1/2-inx2-in mini loaf pans. Bake at 350 for 35 - 40 min or until a tooth pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool on pans 10 min before removing to wire rack. Let stand till cold.
This is the most yummy bread . I realy hope I can make it safe. Thanks

Pear Bread
2 cups all purpose flour 1 cup sugar 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg 1/2cup butter (What would I use??) There are lots of butter subs out there, but I use Earth Balance. 2 Eggs (How many egg whites??) That would be 4 egg whites or you could use the equivalent in egg beaters...1/2 cup. 1/4 buttermilk (Is there anything I can substiute this with) Yes!! There is! Use rice or soy milk, and sour it with 1/2 tsp or so of cider vinegar. 1 teaspoon vannilla extract 1 cup finley chopped peeled pears.
Bake at 350 for 35 - 40 min or until a tooth pick inserted in center comes out clean. one other subsistitution- soy milk and vinegar for buttermilk, but the big one is applesauce and oil for butter- I use 3/4 cup applesauce and 1/4 cup oil PER cup of butter, so in your recipe reduce proportions accordingly.. even works with banana bread.
