I use Flax Seed for my oils in recipes.......
Is Flax Seed a OK IBS food or will it be a tigger food?

I use whole ground Flaxseed Meal. You can substitute it for shortening or oil at a ratio of 3 to 1 in baked goods. For example, 1 and 1/2 cups of flaxseed meal can replace 1/2 cup butter, margarine or cooking oil in recipes. (Product you are cooking does brown faster using flaxseed) My biggest concern since I am in such a flair with my IBS is the fat contents in flax. I would be very interested in knowing if Flaxseed is soluble or insoluble? Anyone know?

i read that it is both insoluable and soluable...i just started using a little each day because a friend of mine said it helped her to go...if you have time do a google search on flaxseed---i found a lot of information on it. i am worried too about its fat content..i cant tell you if it aggrivates ibs because i am still at the stage where everything aggrivates mine!

I too am not ready to start flax seed but I hope too. I will do a study on it to see if it is full of FAT and reply later. It sure is good for us for it is awesome in recipes.
