My husband recently got diagnosed with IBS-C, I have your book, IBS in the first year, and you talk about eating small meals frequently. How often is that? Right now he eats a small meal about every two hours. In the book it mentions that you are pretty much continually eating rice cakes or sourdough bread throughout the day. I wasn't sure if that was on top of eating frequent small meals. He has also gone from about 170 lbs and is now 138 lbs, so we are trying to figure out a way to help him gain weight back. Any suggestions on how to gain weight back? (He also has GERD)

Please see the menus in the book. Just think smaller, frequent, and well chewed six times/day to keep the colon filled so it doesn't spasm, helped me gain. I eat a small breakfast, then snack, then the next little bit larger lunch, another snack, then a similar in size little bit larger (as with lunch) dinner. Then can go a little longer, but not any more than a couple hours before bed 3rd smallest snack for the day. I'm IBS-D prone and have gerd. I take 1 gram of (no gas/unfermentable) methylcellulose soluble fiber before everything eaten. I drink water with meal and throughout the day to keep everything moving. Soluble fiber requires water to keep it moving to prevent gas from food. I used to be on this board for a few years solid, so I might not see your reply. Best to you both.
