Hi everyone,

Well, I did it again! I was at work and at lunch the girl I work with brought me a plate with a cream cheese dessert with a blueberry sauce on top. She said that I had to try this delicious dessert that her mom had made and handed it to me. What could I say??? So......I ate some of it Now I am sure I will be feeling it tomorrow or maybe even tonight! UGH!!

I know, I know!!! Shouldn't have done it!!! OK! OK! I will take my punishment. Please don't be too hard on me.

And to top it off....I had to do a lot of filing today and my knees and back are killing me.

At least I don't have to be back at work till Friday.

Hey Barbie,

You don't need us to scold you, your tummy will do plenty of that, hehe. Mine's pretty mad at me today, and I've been behaving for weeks. Oh well, just gotta deal. Next time, refuse the dessert, your tummy will thank you. hope you feel better soon.

Hi Barbie. I do the same thing? Why do we do these things to ourselves???? . I know I'm gonna pay when I eat any kind of cream cheese or sour cream dip. I can not help myself. Spinnach dip is my total weakness but yet I eat a ton of it at parties. Oh well.....we just can't help it. NO need beating yourself up about it. Hey ya never know you may luck out and it won't effect ya. Ya know we do have those days SOMETIMES! Good luck with your belly

You bad girl!! I'll scold you even if no one else will! You know what your problem is Barbie? You're too nice!! You didn't want to hurt her feelings so you hurt yourself instead!!!!!!! Gotta learn that "No, thank you" is a complete sentence. If they push, say "I'm sorry but I can't eat that for medical reasons. It looks lovely and I'm sure it's delicious but I'm not allowed. Thanks anyway."

Maybe you'll get lucky this time and it won't make you too sick. I hope not, sweetie pie, since you were just being sweet. Oooh, and too bad about the knees and back. Ouuccchhh.

Feel better, honey pie! (I have to add that I always used to hate those 50 year old women that called everyone sweetie and hon -- AND NOW I'M ONE!!!!!!! Too funny!)

Ooooohhhh... you bad girl, you!

Don't let all of this cheating turn into a bad habit!

That woman seems like she is a bad influence on you... tell her anything (truth or fiction) to stop her from tempting you.
And remember, saying no the first time is the hardest part!
CAn you beleive that at the office where I work, I have the center desk, so it is where all the doughnuts, cakes, and other random "goodies" are placed? I could snatch one up without having to pull my butt out of my chair. Five months ago when I started the IBS diet I haven't touched the junk ONCE. It just took me turing it down a couple of times to get over it, even though the smell of doughnuts constantly wafts over to my nose!
Good luck with staying away from the "bad stuff"

I foudn the perfect solution... I now politely explain to people that I'm allergic to dairy- not lactose intollerant... and it makes it much easier to turn things down since almost everything people offer like that has dairy in it... of course now the office ordered me a dairy free pizza for lunch later.. I'm wondering what that will look like and if I'll be able to eat it (party for the entire building) or if I am better off just skipping it- DH makes it for me at home, but there isnt' a ton of oil in the crust either... I packed lunch in case, figure I'll look and see...

I just always have my snacks with me in my backpack or purse.. so if I can't eat wherever we go I am ok after all.. I did my big no no on Monday- lunch with DH, best friend and godkids out and they went to big boys and my sandwich came with fries... I was going to have them hold the fries.. but DH wanted them and his meal didn't come with them. so I got them- mistake because when they're in front of me I get tempted and ate a few (just 3/4) but I definitely felt it afterwards.. the rest DH and the kids ate...

Barbie!

Bad girl...! Now wait, here's the question, did you eat it to be polite, or did you see that yummy sweet cream cheesy delight and couldn't stop yourself?? I am guilty of both, so there is no wrong answer!!!

I say something like, "oh, my doctor would KILL me if I had that!" and offer no other explanation. I just hate it when people order food for staff mtgs, etc., based on what they think I can eat! (like the dairy free pizza example... I'd keel over in stabbing pain if I ate the tomato sauce.) My food deals are just way too complicated for the office!

Wow, Sheri, you have more willpower than I do. Donuts are one of my triggers/weaknesses. They are certainly much easier to resist now that I'm no longer working, though!

Good for you, girlfriend!!

Last Friday night DH and I ordered pizza. I haven't had it in forever and it was so good!!! And I didn't even get any "D" that night. I thought I was safe, but the next day I was so glad Ben was tired because I spent so much time in the bathroom.

Ugh!

Yeah, I was a bad girl!

I guess the answer to your question is that I ate it to be polite. The truth is I don't care for blueberries that much. The girl I work with is so sweet and she knows I have stomach troubles (but doesn't really understand). She brought me a piece on a plate with a fork and said, "you have to try this my mom made it and it's delicious". Well, I am too nice to say anything so I took it from her. At least I didn't eat but a few bites and told her how great it was and when she wasn't looking I went into the other room like I was going to get more water and threw the rest in the disposal. WHEW! Had to do some fast thinking on that one.

Anyway, I feel OK today but I know it could still strike at me tonight or tomorrow.

Thanks for your reply

Like your excuse about being allergic to dairy. That could cover a whole range of foods that are "forced on me" at the office!

It is so hard to resist things that are put in front of you. I do fine at home where I don't buy those kinds of things but when someone puts fries in front of me...you betcha I'm going to eat a few.

I'm just glad they don't have doughnuts at work. I used to work at a place that had warm fresh baked doughnuts every morning....that was before IBS and I ate several.....boy, were they good! Now I take crackers with peanut butter and a couple of tootsie rolls for snack time.

I'm a little tired today -- overdid it yesterday, so I'm about to go to bed. 8:30 pm sounds like a good bedtime for an Old Broad, doesn't it?!

I think Bev's just busy eating worms! he he! If she doesn't show up tomorrow, I think I've got her email address somewhere.

Good night!

Is that what you wanted, Sis?

Listen, there's no way I could have resisted blueberry sauce. I'd eat it on dog poop! Well, maybe not....

We've been so busy unpacking and cleaning out the condo, there's just been NO TIME to cook or prepare food of any kind. When the builder's wife offered us a home made apple pie (she claims her daughter wins blue ribbons with them at the Fair every year), we didn't turn her down. I had two slices (one yesterday, one the day before). I don't feel guilty; I'd burned that pie off before I'd eaten it!

BTW, it was the worst pie I've ever eaten. I threw out the crust because it was rubbery and tough. My apple pie would beat hers hands down! Next year, I'm making mine and entering the County Fair! Blue Ribbon, my a**!

Okay, back to the cream cheese dessert.... Didn't you tell us sometime back that you can eat dairy products? Wasn't it you? Well, regardless, what I would do if I were you is cut out ALL fat for awhile; concentrate on 100% fat-free meals. Take some Equalactin or Hyoscyamine; I bet you'll be just fine.

Above all else, lighten up on yourself. And maybe have a little chat with the gal in the office. Let her know that her baking is fabulous, and you appreciate the thought, BUT.... tell her about your IBS and that you can't eat that kind of food, neither can you resist it, so in the future, thanks but no thanks. Do it diplomatically, not like I suggest. I have as much diplomacy as Joan Rivers.

Back to work for me....

Sis

after ordering my cheese-less personal size pizza with broccoli from my local pizza shop a couple of times, I could never dream of wanting cheesey pizza again, even though it was one of my foods I ate several times a week before the diet.

I'm here, checking in briefly.

All these boxes are doing me in. I unpack one, but the stuff in it goes in different rooms. And I thought I was organized! HA! So I take what goes in one room in there, but then get stuck in that room, opening another box, which in turn needs to be sorted out, and stuff distributed to other rooms, and so on and so on......

The kitchen is a total disaster area. You can't even squeeze by the stack of boxes. I try to organize the cupboards, but nothing seems to fit.

BUT -- you can sure bet that my spice cupboard is all nice and neat -- and of course each spice in alphabetical order! Whenever I feel inundated with all these boxes around me, I just open up my spice cabinet, and all is well again....

I finally broke down today and went to the grocery store. There was NO FOOD in this house whatsoever. All the frozen items I made in advance, in preparation for this move, we ate already. No time, no time.....

And I'm loving it.

Sorry I haven't been around much, but I promise to pop in every night to see what's up with you guys. Lots of newbies, eh? Oh, by the way, Mags called me yesterday and we talked for an hour! She's in L-U-V, BIG time! Oh yeah. But don't tell her I told you.

Nite nite --

Spice rack? RACK? Hell no! I'm talking cupboard, baby! Spice CUPBOARD! That's FIVE SHELVES worth, thank you very much! And, yep, they're all in alphabetical order.

Damn I'm good.

Today, I tackled the Rowing Room. Yep, I got me a Rowing Room. The rowing machine sits in the middle of the floor, facing the TV and the computer, so we can row with the program that connects to the computer, with other rowers. You actually connect the rowing machine to the computer. It's amazing.

I organized this room today all by myself. It's got the computer in it, my desk, the huge rowing machine (with runners even!), the TV, my record player and records, and my stained glass workbench that accommodates TWO people (both Don and me), and all my stained glass supplies, AS WELL AS a twin bed and armchair! This room is gigantic! (It's over the garage.)

Tomorrow I'm tackling the dining room. Too much fun for one person. Wish you were here. (And Andy!)
