colonoscopy cost?

I got my insurance statement today for my colonoscopy. I haven't gotten the actual bill from the hospital yet, but this statement says it is my responsibility to pay $440. (The insurance paid about $3100.)
Is this within reason, or should I be calling my insurance raising hell?
Thank you!

Depends on the insurance. Sounds within reason to me depending upon your deductible. We have very not great insurance and so I owe $1200 for my last go round of procedures. Especially if they gave you the good drugs (did they?) those are expensive as all get out.

I investigated a bit further last night. I guess the cost is from $90 I had remaining on my $250 deductible, plus 10% of everything else the insurance allowed. Turns out the hospital where I had the procedure is in the "more expensive" category for outpatient stuff, so the cost is legit albeit a little on the higher end.

Ah. Wouldn't it be nice if you knew your hospital was a "luxury" hospital BEFORE you had the procedure done? Did you get mints on your pillow?
