No! this post is not about an action figure based on Eric McCormack's character.

I have a few days off and I was in Wal-Mart right around lunch time and caught a whif of McDonald's burger and fries. I had the biggest craving for a quarter-pounder (or the 113/1000 of a kilogramer for us Canadians... doesn't have the same ring to it does it?) with cheese, with some fries and a coke. I was totally thinking about it, and for minute thought that the pain afterwards would be worth it, but I stayed strong and instead came home and had soy hot dogs (although I did cheat and have a coke for the first time in 5 months).

I can honestly say I'm glad I didn't have the burger, it wouldn't have been worth it.

That's willpower for sure - good job! I'm at a point where I can easily pass up fast food - I go by a McD's or a BK, and all I smell is *grease* - but damn, chocolate is difficult. It seems like every store I've been in lately has had a little display of Lindt truffles by the register... and those dark chocolate truffles are my weakness... and so far, I haven't caved. And I'm glad, because I can't eat just one and I know I'll pay for it if I do.

I bet that coke was mighty good, though.

PS - 113/1000 of a kilogramer... too funny!

Hey Casey,

I miss chocolate tons too, have you ever tried Tropical Source chocolate bars? They're completely dairy free, and they're actually quite tasty. They're high in fat, so you have to be careful with them, but I can have one small piece without too much trouble, and it's yummy. Here's a link to the website: http://www.nspiredfoods.com/tropicalsrc.html

And good job Jamie on resisting temptation! Not always an easy thing to do

Jamie,

I am impressed. Good for you having enough will power to skip McDonald's. That is the hardest thing when you are out and hungry and smell fast food.

I bet that coke tasted good.

I must be one of the lucky ones that can still eat a burger from a fast food place? Still it does have to be a hamburger with no onion or pickles. It's the french fries that kill my stomach!! So if im buying food on the go with the kids,i get a plain hamburger and im okay. Coke would do me in though, most soft drinks don't agree with me.Chocolate i can have in moderation.I do agree that passing up that food couldnt have been easy!! Women have the disadvantage of strong cravings for all the bad foods during their time of the month(sorry JBI if thats TMI...lol, hey that rhymes?).

I know exactly how you feel. It is soooo hard when you smell those "good" smells or see an ad on TV for a triple burger with cheese melting all over...to pass it up. I just try to get out of there as fast as I can or change the channel. I am able to eat the breaded chicken sandwich at Sonic that is pretty tasty so I have that several times a week and that usually satisifies my cravings for something good.

I had a diet coke the other day and didn't have any problems. But.....I am not going to get in the habit of drinking them because I know one day it will come back to bite me. Better safe than sorry. Hope you enjoyed yours.

It's funny you mention the Lindt truffles. Thinking about my last experience with them was one of the main reasons I stayede away from the McDonald's. I had one package of 3 on Easter weekend and had an awful attack right after finishing the third. I miss them so much though.

And the coke was so so, The first sip was nice, but after that I would have been happy just having apple juice.

Why is it that we drool over the smell of such disgusting stuff? I had the same experience the other day, passing by Burger King. I said to myself, "Self, that dead cow smells GREAT!" I wanted it. Isn't that incredible? Why would I want something so gross?

We're sick, Jamie. Next thing ya know, we'll be craving lobster. Ewwwwwwwww.......

Very impressive JBI!!! I have to keep myself FAR away from that place. McDonald's is one of my weaknesses, especially the fries. Good job on the will power!!

All due respect, I LOVE grilled cow carcass aka a good steak or burger. Too bad I can't have it more often...
