I'm not sure if that's the way it is with everyone in Canada, but I know in my city there is a huge shortage of family doctors, and so they are very overburdened. It's highly unusual to be able to get in same day. My clinic does have a 24-hour nurseline that you can call and get advice, but generally if you need or want to be seen right away you have to go to walk-in or emergency room. There's currently 30,000 people in my city who don't even have a doctor, so I can't complain to much
Hope your daughter feels better soon! Kelly

How does it work in the US, you ask? Well, I call my doc, and if it's something minor, they'll just call in a prescription to my favorite pharmacist, which I go pick up. If it's something that requires him looking at me, and he wants to see me that day, they'll squeeze me in; otherwise, I have to make an appointment (but it never takes longer than a few days). Going to the emergency room is ONLY for when the doctor or any of his cohorts are unavailable. Otherwise, the insurance won't pay for it.
You have medical clinics up there; can't you go to one of those? When I was up there and suddenly came down with a UTI, the realtor we were meeting took me to the medical clinic nearby. I only had to wait about 15 minutes before seeing a physician.
Hope you're doing better and can wait until Monday. Try cutting out the sugar and seeing if it helps.
Bev

Hi Kelly- No, he didn't mention which ones not to take. He just quizzes me every time to make sure I am not taking any ibuprofen. I do remember that one of the painkillers he said I could take was Ultram. I hope you get a good diagnosis soon. I remember how frustrating it was when I didn't know what was wrong with me. I feel blessed to have had two wonderful GIs who have always taken my symptoms seriously. Thankfully my current GI just fought my insurance company so I could have a capsule endoscopy. I was willing to let it go because my symptoms have not been that bad yet, and I thought it was probably my IBS. But come to find out, I also have Crohn's in my small intestine. And I have had every test you can have, and my GI is telling me that without this capsule endoscopy he never would have been able to make this diagnosis. So now I have to take different medication, because the Crohn's medications work on different parts of the system. Right now I am only taking Colazal for the Crohn's that is in my colon. Take care of yourself and I hope you feel better soon!

Kelly It could be from your meds. but maybe not.. I have restless leg and arm syndrome my legs/arms can ache during the day and night. Restless Legs tend to make you kick and flail about in bed. I would try walking around a bit to see if that helps. It is very annoying at best. My old Dr. gave me Klonapin for it but I refuse to take it because it's a narcotic. I tend to just suck it up and go with it but I certainly don't recommend that to anyone it's just what I do.. I would ask your Dr. to be sure Hope your legs feel better... Take Care Terry
