God, I feel like I'm at the end of my rope. All the drugs the doctors keep giving me and my lack of eating is making me so foggy minded, which so far has been a nuisance but not a huge problem. Until today.

This morning, when I got up, I went to take my "morning" pills which are my Nexium, Librax and Modulon. Well, I was so out of it I grabbed my birth control and Paxil, which I had just taken before bed the night before! So of course I start freaking out. I called a pharmacist and while I think he thought I was an idiot, he tried to assure me it would be ok, and that the worst that will happen is I'll get a little nauseous, I just feel like such an idiot. Now, I have to still take the other three, on top of the two I wasn't supposed to take.

I don't know what to do, I feel like I need a full-time babysitter or something, it's very frustrating.

Just venting really, I'm just scared i'm going to overdose or make myself really sick or something.

Someone want to be my keeper? (just joking)

Kelly

My grandfather had a kidney transplant, and immediately afterwards, he was taking so many medications that, literally, he DID need a keeper. My grandmother, thank goodness, was able to keep track of everything, by keeping a binder full of daily charts next to all the pills, where she'd mark off what he'd taken and when. It sounds silly to do it with a half-dozen prescriptions, I know, but I know what it's like to be foggy-headed from painkillers, so it really might be helpful.

I'm sure you'll be fine. I think it takes more than an extra pill to really make you overdose.

By the way, I will email shortly - I just got back from my appointment, and I really gotta get something to eat. (I'm such a board junkie. I'm on here checking messages before I even eat something. Sheesh!)

Kelly,

Been there done that. I think you will find there are quite a few people who have done the same thing. I take estrogen every night sometime after dinner. One night I took it after I ate dinner and then right before I went to bed I was going to take a motrin for a headache and took my estrogen again. I couldn't believe that I did it. Sometimes you act out of habit without really thinking about it.

Hi Kelly,

I know how you feel. Once I took my Librax and then 1 hr later I was going to take a tylenol and just by habit reached for the Librax and took another one. I panicked, too, and called the pharmacist.. He told me that I would be OK just a little woozy.

An idea.....keep your pills in separate places and keep together the ones you take together. The ones you take at night maybe in the bedroom and the ones during the day in the kitchen. Also, when I'm through taking my pill I turn the bottle upside down. Or you could keep a chart and mark them off. BTW, you are not an idiot.

Sweetheart, RELAX!

You know, that reminds me of my rowing coach. He used to get right up next to our rowing shell in his launch, yelling into his megaphone, right into our ears practically, "RELAX, DAMNITALL, RELAX! " Do you know what that can do to a rower? At that point, besides making you deaf, it's all you can do to keep the boat upright!

So, Kelly, dear, you gotta keep the boat upright. If not, you're gonna tip over and the sharks will getcha.

It's so easy for someone to say, "stop worrying," I know that. But Kelly, STOP WORRYING! All of this will work itself out. When will you and Honsolo go to the GI? I think a lot of the pressure will be off you when you do. So the sooner, the better.

E-mail me anytime, sweetie.

Bev

Thanks guys! You all made me feel a little less stupid which I really needed right now And your suggestions were great, I'm going to sit down tonight and devise a system so that hopefully this won't happen again. I'm going to be organized for once in my life!

LOL - You reminded me...

Once, I was working two jobs (14 hours a day) every day of the week. I finally got a night off and thought omigosh I haven't taken my "pill" since Sunday (it was Wednesday) so I ate them all....GULP GULP GULP....and suddenly realized that I was supposed to be off of it for a week to get my period LMAO....I didn't know what to do...LOL.

Don't worry, I am sure you aren't the first person to accidentally do something like this.

Take care and drink plenty of water. That might help flush out the pill or atleast help with the nausea if you are going to be sick.

don't feel like an idiot, please. it's easy for ANYONE to take meds at the wrong time.

once i took a 12 hour cold medication-- well, i took 2 instead of one. i slept for 24 hours, literally. woke up with no cold, though!

here's my advice (i haven't read the other posts here, don't know if anyone else suggested it yet): put your morning and nite pills in 2 different places. i keep a bottle of water and my night pills on my dresser and i keep my morning pills in my bag that i take to work. i used to keep the morning pills in the bathroom, but found that this works better 'cause i don't usually eat breakfast at home and some of my meds need to be taken with food. this is a good system until the days i have to call an renew my night pills and forget to take the bottles along for reference!

anyway, stop kicking yourself over this. you need to give yourself a lot more slack, lady, and let yourself be sick without holding it against yourself! just come up with new systems. you'll make it through this, i promise! and remember, you're not the only one. with the fibro-frog in residence, i'm surprised i don't take tic-tacs instead of my medications on some days!
