Help! I can't lose the Predniseone weight gain!!!

Help!
I have ulcerative colitis.
I have been off prednisone for the past 4 weeks now and I'm doing well on the Salofalk.
However, in the 4 months I was on Pred I gained 18 pounds and I feel terrible. 
I kept having people tell me that the weight would start coming off after I stopped Pred.
WELL IT'S NOT!!! 
Help me please. I feel fat, bloated and really discouraged. I dont' want to stay this size and I feel very frustrated and angry.
I am grateful that my body is behaving better from a health perspective, but I am so very unhappy with my physical appearance it's starting to get me down. 
Any advice, counsel or encouragement would be appreciated.

A friend of mine was on-and-off it for years (for Lupus), and unfortunately, the weight DID always come off, but it took a while. If you've been off the pred for 4 weeks, and you're following a sensible diet and exercising, it really just might be a matter of patience (ugh, I hate that word, don't you?!).
I know that wasn't the most encouraging thing to hear... maybe someone else here has better personal experience with it and can help. It's a little quiet here on the weekends.
