Hey Ashley,

600 sq.ft. is a perfect size for you. That's the size of our condo! It's a tough squeeze for 2 people. One little closet just doesn't cut it. And don't get me started on having only one toilet.

But for one person, oh yeah! Do you have a garage or a carport? We have neither. It's tough, especially when you have 2 cars, 2 racing shells, rowing gear, kayaking gear, gardening equipment, tools, and a LOT of junk. We had to rent a storage unit across town.

Do you have a balcony or patio? You'll use it more than any other room -- because there's fresh air out there! Kinda gives you a little more space, ya know?

Do you have a separate kitchen, or is it part of your living room (like ours)?

Does the condo come with drapes and/or curtains? Or will you have to sew some? I can help you with that. What about a shower curtain? Or do you have a glass door?

Are the floors carpeted, or do you have hardwood? Is the unit an upstairs, or downstairs unit? Someone on both sides of you as well?

Gee, this is exciting for you. I'm anxious to see some pix.

When do you get to move in? Probably not 'till September, right? It'll come sooner than you think.

Bev

Hey girl..

The closing is in the end of july.. and my mom, my sister and I are going to go up then to do a little scubbing and alot of painting, and I will probably move in in the middle of August. In time to start a job so I'll have a little money and get settled and know my way around by september when school starts.

hmm as for your questions, I actually think it will be perfect for me as well.. I couldn't imgaine having two people in there though.. it will be a tight squeeze.. oh yeah.

I don't have a garage, but then again I don't have alot of stuff at all. I do get a deeded parking space, in a fenced in area right outside of my condo which is great considering it is boston.. and parking isn't something in full effect around there...

and I do have a balcony which is really exciting! its pretty small.. definitly can't fit a lounge chair out there, but it can fit some flowers and a regular chair to sit out there and relax.

The kitchen is actually attached to the living room.. well it looks into it, the living room is off of the eat in counter with barstools. the best part is that the kitchen was just redone, so it is in great shape and there are hardwood floors throughout which is nice.

The bathroom however, is a different story.. its 70's mustard yellow, but it will have to work because I can't afford to have in any other way.. However, I found this great shower curtain at target with a tiny bit of mustard yellow, sage green and blue.. and we got sage green paint in attempt to tone down the flaming yellow bathroom.. my mom has years of decorating experience so she thinks it will really work...

As for curtains.. the only bad part is that there are hardly any windows in this place.. well there is one HUGE window in my bedroom, and I already have curtains for it from my old apartment from college.. and then there is only a sliding glass door in the living room, which lets in tons of light however, and I will probably try to make something cute to put on there.. however, there are blinds on it already.. (kinda boring) but will work for now..

And lastly, its a fourth floor unit.. my parents refused to let the agent even show them anything ground level.. haha they were scared about me being in the city alone.. Even though my area is really safe, they didnt' want anyone scaling the walls to get in.. typical parents, and I'm glad too cause I'd probably be scared of that as well. My old roomate and I used to sneak around the house with pots and pans because of every sound we heard.

I am pretty excited and I am looking forward to it.. especially now that I have my paint all picked out and that I can start getting things to make it look pretty.. luckily I already have alot of stuff because I've lived away from home for five years now (aside from a few summers).. but I still need to get some new and cute things..

Anyways, thats the story for now.. sounds good to me..

have you planned out everythign for your house? and the colors etc?

Your condo sounds EXACTLY like ours! Same size, same kitchen, same counter with barstools, everything the same except we don't have hardwood floors. Lucky you. Ours is all carpeted except the kitchen area, entry and bathroom -- all vinyl. Ew.

The balcony is a Godsend -- you'll love it (UNLESS you end up with a damn smoker below you -- 'cause the smoke blows up into your balcony and in the window. Gross.)

We have a lot of plants out on our balcony -- it's the only place we have to garden. You'll love playing in the dirt, especially if you have WORMS.

The bathroom sounds bright. Eeek! Your mom sounds SUPER, and I love her ideas. Yeah, the green will tone down that yellow. Gee, I'd love to see pix.

We also have blinds. I really hate them, especially when it comes time to clean them. ARGGGGH! What a mess. However, they do a good job of providing privacy and keeping out the hot sun. If we were to stay here any longer, I'd definitely make curtains and lose the blinds. Curtains are much softer and warmer-looking. I did make drapes for the sliding glass doors going onto the balcony -- it had those plastic vertical blinds over the door, and I really hated it so much, I just couldn't stand it. Drapes are easy to make and look much nicer.

Your parents are right about being higher up. We're on the second floor (there are only 2 floors), and condo owners on the first floor are always complaining that people take ("borrow") their patio furniture, thinking the unit is a rental, and never returning it. I wouldn't want someone to be able to just walk right up onto my patio. (Also, the first floor condos are always getting hit with golf balls.)

I'm so happy for you, Ashley. Hey! You'll be moving in about the same time we will. (I hope.)

When you go to Boston, you'll take your laptop with you, won'tcha? We'll still be in touch, eh?

Bev
